Fotoholics BBQ

Fotoholics had a barbeque yesterday at Union House.

Other than a shortage of sausages and a missing D80 + Nikkor AF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 G IF-ED DX lens...

Everything was alright.


Members were asked to register here and get their names in time for the lucky draw. The first prize was a Kingston 8GB Ultimate 266x CF card (how they got Kingston to sponsor this is mind boggling for me).

The one item that captured everyone's attention for the day; a 5D markII. Its seen here with a Canon EF 35mm f/1.4 USM L. Coupled with the 5D's amazing ISO performance (up to 25,600), its a whopper of a light-sucker.

You could see that people were drooling for the CF card


If I were to start over (from Olympus), I'd get a d700 and this lens.


No matter what others' say about vignetting at f2.8, i don't care, because it looks cool, and its slimmer and lighter than my 35-100! :)

The Nikon lens weighs 1.47 kg, while the 35-100 weighs 1.8kg (with tripod adapter).


Of course.. DX users can't compare their bokeh to FX users. Its a world of difference..


.. especially when u've got someone armed with a Canon EF 85mm f/1.2 USM L lens

I apologise for the bland, cloudy pics. I did my best by shooting RAW and setting the white balance manually.



Neil's thursday dinners was as usual this week

I've decided to cook plain pasta, and mix the meats with the tomato based pasta sauce

This nice Jap just came over from Tasmania. She's going over to S'pore, M'sia and Thailand to finish up the rest of her hols after cherry picking for 4 mths in Tassie!
